Monsoonal Blue
Monsoonal Blue
Captured on the edge of Darwin's rugged coastline, this image showcases the striking contrast between the richly coloured stone and the vast, moody monsoonal sky. The unique blue and ochre colour palette always ignites my creativity! The wet season is just such a perfect time to capture the most unique and dramatic colours around the Top End.
Here, at sunset, a small glimmer of orange light made it’s way through the heavy blue cloud, just adding a little bit of soft orange reflection in the water and a deep yet subtle glow to the rocks.
The textured rock formation, leads the eye out to a restless sea beneath gathering storm clouds. Although a common photography rule is that points of interest shouldn’t be placed in the centre of the image, here it works! And the rules are there to be broken, I decided! A tiny shadow of the Darwin CBD is just visible from this angle (just near Pee Wees restaurant at East Point Reserve).
"Monsoonal Blue" is a celebration of the Top End’s dramatic seasonal shifts—where land, sea, and sky collide in powerful harmony.
